Dispatcher: Bus Services Operations Depots

About this role

The City of Ekurhuleni is looking for a dispatcher to work in its bus services operations depots in Gauteng. The dispatcher keeps buses and drivers moving on time so that every scheduled service runs as planned.

What you’ll do

• Send buses out on time so that services start as scheduled, and make sure drivers report for duty on time.
• Pass shift changes and special hire trip instructions on to bus drivers.
• Check that the destination boards on each bus show the correct information before it leaves the depot.
• Track which buses are available for every shift, log buses back in after special hire trips, and organise replacements when a bus breaks down.
• Make sure buses leave the depot clean, and help inspect buses on return to spot damage or faults.
• Supervise the security guards on duty and report any problems to the senior operations officer.

What you need

• Grade 12 (matric).
• A valid code C, EC or EC1 (04) driver’s licence.
• A PrDP (Professional Driving Permit).
• At least 3 years’ experience in bus services operations.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Copies of your qualifications, ID document, driver’s licence and any professional registration, attached to your application.
