About this role

Absa, one of South Africa’s long-established banks, is hiring a full-time Financial Adviser (AIFA) for its Everyday Banking team in Randfontein. The adviser will help clients plan their finances and choose suitable insurance and investment solutions.

What you’ll do

  • Build and keep up professional relationships with clients, bank staff, product providers and adviser support staff.
  • Run needs analyses with Absa’s approved tools and recommend suitable risk and investment products.
  • Present advice, quotes and formal recommendations in line with FAIS rules.
  • Complete product applications, compliance paperwork and FICA documents, then submit them to product providers.
  • Review client portfolios at least once a year and keep client records up to date.
  • Plan your activities, follow up on leads and work towards sales and growth targets.
  • Guide and coach adviser assistants, and complete the compliance training Absa requires.

What you need

  • At least 2 to 3 years of financial planning or advice experience in long-term insurance and investments.
  • NQF 5 FSB-approved qualification (120 FAIS credits).
  • RE5 certification.
  • Fit and proper status for your licence categories, and the ability to keep it.
  • Working knowledge of the six steps of financial planning.
  • Ability to use Absa’s Financial Needs Analysis tool (Avalon, from August 2024 onwards).
  • Advantageous: experience working with bancassurance or bank-led sales teams.

Is this job for you?

This role suits an experienced financial adviser who is licensed under FAIS and enjoys building client relationships. You should be comfortable with sales targets and keeping careful records. If you like guiding others, the coaching part of the role may also appeal to you.

Tips before you apply

  • Have your FAIS licence details, RE5 certificate and NQF 5 qualification ready to upload.
  • On your CV, list each long-term insurance and investment role, with dates and the types of clients you advised.
  • Show your sales results, such as client numbers or policies placed, so the recruiter can see your track record.
