About this role
Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) is looking for a senior security leader to protect its people, infrastructure, operations, information and reputation. The role is a five-year contract based in Gauteng and reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
You will lead an intelligence-led security and enforcement function that covers the National Key Point airports in ACSA’s network.
What you’ll do
- Build and roll out an integrated enterprise security strategy and masterplan that fits international standards and South African law.
- Set up a governance framework with policies, standards, assurance checks and performance reporting.
- Lead a risk management approach that spots emerging threats and weak points before they become incidents.
- Oversee investigations into incidents, fraud, corruption, theft, organised crime, insider threats and aviation security breaches.
- Create an enforcement framework and loss prevention programmes to reduce theft, fraud, sabotage and revenue leakage.
- Give executive oversight of aviation, cargo, perimeter and terminal security, including compliance with National Key Point, ICAO and SACAA requirements.
- Drive the setup of security operations centres and a national command centre, and join up physical and cyber security with the IT Division.
- Lead the adoption of security technology such as automated screening, baggage scanning, biometrics and predictive threat detection.
- Manage the function’s operational, capital and labour budgets, and report on risks and enforcement results to executive management, the Audit and Risk Committee and the Board.
What you need
- Essential: A relevant Honours Degree (NQF Level 8) in law enforcement, security management, intelligence, public safety or an equivalent field.
- Advantageous: An MBA, Master of Business Leadership (MBL), or a master’s degree in law enforcement, security management, intelligence or an equivalent field (NQF Level 9).
- Essential: Registration with PSIRA.
- Advantageous: AVSEC accreditation.
- Advantageous: Appointment under the National Aviation Security Programme of 2012 and NIA/SAPS, and membership of the National Aviation Security Committee or NATJOINTS.
- Essential: A total of 13 years’ experience, including 8 years in security management, law enforcement, the military, intelligence or a related field, 5 years in aviation or airport regulation, and 5 years at senior management level.
- Essential: Experience managing security at National Key Points and an understanding of airport operations.
- Knowledge of the ACSA Act, Companies Act, King IV, PFMA, PPPFA and B-BBEE legislation, and of ACI, ICAO, CAA and IATA requirements.
- Deep experience in quality management systems and security technology.
- Strong analytical skills, a decisive and results-driven approach, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Ability to build relationships across law enforcement, government and industry, and to influence at the highest levels.
