Learner Technician

About this role

Eskom’s Grootvlei Power Station in Balfour, Mpumalanga, is recruiting learner technicians for its Generation Division. This is a structured learning programme in the maintenance department, aimed at people who are starting out in the technical trades.

What you’ll do

• Work in the maintenance department at Grootvlei Power Station as part of a technical team.
• Learn through formal institutional training and hands-on work on the job.
• Build up your practical technical skills under the guidance of experienced staff.
• Follow Eskom’s policies and procedures at all times.
• Communicate clearly with supervisors and colleagues about your work.
• Take part in the key tasks given to you as your training progresses.

What you need

• A fully completed S4 or S5 qualification in one of: Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Process, Chemical or Civil.
• South African citizenship.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• A polite, punctual and self-motivated attitude. Being assertive and energetic is an advantage.
• A willingness to learn and to work as part of a team.
