- Finish legal reports on time, within the turnaround times agreed with clients.
- Deal with complaints, insurer escalations and matters referred to the Ombudsman.
- Coach investigators on policy wording, exclusions and what evidence they need.
- Lead one Junior Legal Counsel and two Senior Underwritten Life Investigators, including their workload, quality and expenses.
- Support complex, high-value underwritten life investigations.
- Build client relationships, grow work with existing clients and win new business for CASHUB services.
- Use AI and automation to improve quality and speed, while keeping proper human legal review in place.
What you need
- An LLB or another recognised legal qualification.
- 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in insurance law, funeral or life claims, policy interpretation and repudiations.
- Strong legal writing skills, with experience handling complaints, formal submissions or Ombudsman matters.
- Experience leading specialist staff and supporting complex investigations.
- Commercial awareness, strong client skills and a willingness to market services and secure work.
- Interest in AI, automation and smarter ways of working.
- Admission as an attorney or advocate (advantageous).
- Exposure to fraud, underwritten life investigations, project management or business development (advantageous).
- A valid South African driver’s licence and your own reliable vehicle.
- Willingness to travel to iOCO or client offices in Midrand, Johannesburg, Cape Town or other locations from time to time.
