Store Driver Job Description

In order to operate their Jeffrey’s Bay location, Dis-Chem Pharmacies must hire a driver who has a current and legal driver’s license.
You are going to be accountable for ensuring that consumers get their orders in a timely, productive, and professional way.

Store Driver Minimum Requirements: Essential:

Grade 12 / Matric
Valid driver’s license
willing and able to perform the hours and/or shifts required by a retail establishment
Previous experience in a comparable position is highly desirable.

Description of the Store Driver Job:

Transport things to client locations quickly, safely, and with courtesy.
Keep an open mind about learning about the different dispatch tasks.
Make sure the right things get to the right customers in the time allotted.
Make sure that items from the refrigerator line are delivered first and that cooler boxes and cold packs are used.
Take the path that gets you to the client and back to the shop as quickly and directly as possible.

After making a delivery, you should head back to the shop as soon as possible so that the vehicle can be used to make a second or third delivery.
After the delivery, make sure that the vehicle has been repacked so that no boxes fall out and damage either the stock or the vehicle.
Take full responsibility for any damage or loss that happens during the delivery process.
Use extra care when moving things that are either fragile or dangerous.

Maintain compliance with pre-set levels of effectiveness and accuracy in order to meet the organization’s requirements.
Follow the manager’s instructions about delivery and pickup, and make sure that all collections, store returns, and transactions between branches are checked, signed for, and brought back to the receiving area.
Make sure that all paperwork related to delivery is signed at the time of delivery, that customer names and addresses are correct, that all invoices written on the delivery log sheet are available and written correctly, that all invoices are signed in the right way, and that any problems are reported to the right manager.

Follow the rules about how to use the business car at all times.
Make sure that the logbook for your vehicle is always full and correct.
Make sure the vehicle is never left alone while it is being used for delivery.
Cash and electronic funds transfers can both be used to pay for all transactions.
Make sure the car is clean and hasn’t any messes in it.

Before, during, and after trips, you should check the vehicle carefully for any damage and make sure it is safe to drive.
If you find anything wrong, you should let the management know.
Any traffic tickets that are given to the car you drive are your responsibility.
You are required to report any accidents or incidents that involve drivers or company equipment.

The National Road Traffic Act tells you that you have to follow all traffic rules and regulations.
You are responsible for paying any traffic tickets that are given to the car you drive.
In order to improve operating efficiencies, you need to build good relationships with both internal and external customers.

Serve your customers in a timely and friendly way to build a relationship with them that will last.
Always be professional when talking to customers.

Store Driver Competencies:

Exceptional fluency and grasp of the English language
Presentable
Effective involvement with both management and workers, as well as with customers
Time management that can be relied on and is sincere

Advantageous:

Report any inappropriate or suspicious behavior pertaining to either the personnel or the consumers in both languages.

Particular aspects of the working environment:

willing and able to perform the hours and/or shifts required by a retail establishment
Willingness and ability to work outside, in a variety of environments and climates, is required.
Capable and physically fit to handle and move big boxes while maintaining compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations
Valid driver’s license
Have access to dependable transportation or live in close proximity to the establishment in question.

Clean history with the credit bureaus and the law
