1. GENERAL MINER

JOB GRADING:

C-Lower

DEPARTMENT:

Engineering – Tramming

SITE:

South Deep Gold Mine

The role of the General Miner is crucial in ensuring the safe management and coordination of the crews within the tramming section and to ensure daily targets are safely achieved.

Minimum Requirements:

Be in possession of a Grade 12/N3 Qualification or Equivalent
Be in possession of a Blasting Certificate
Be in possession of a Shift Supervisor Certificate (Advantageous)
Have 3 years’ experience in blasting and tramming operations in a RBE (Rail Bound Equipment) environment

Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment.
Must have proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or be fully vaccinated by the date of the commencement of employment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure health and safety of persons and conditions within the section
Sound understanding of the Mine Health and Safety Act
Ensure that working places are maintained in a safe condition

Ensure that daily production targets are met safely
Ensure effective availability and utilization of equipment and materials
Promote and develop team effectiveness within the department.

Role Details

Perform routine body duties like drafting correspondences, programming appointments, organising and maintaining information, furthermore as helping internal and external stakeholders.

About the Role

Perform information entry into the function’s relevant system and file info through the appliance of set procedures. Review and verify info to make sure information accuracy, accessibility, and integrity.
Maintain relevant files and records, extract required information from the system, and computer file into standards formats and spreadsheets as required.

Receive, distribute, and manage correspondences by applying information of department structures.
Collate and input content into commonplace templates as allotted to organize documents.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to reply to requests for info concerning the supply of people and facilities.
Schedule conferences and appointments as requested by guaranteeing handiness and avoiding interval overlaps between the assorted stakeholders.

Assist internal and external stakeholders (e.g. workers and customers) with a lot of advanced requests by applying sturdy information of the organisation’s services and business.
Address advanced requests and inquiries promptly and increase to management once necessary.

Organise own work schedule day after day in line with dynamic priorities.
Work severally with oversight and weekly check ins.

Assist the team and increase problems to management if necessary.

About you:

This position requires a High School/Diploma or degree relevant to the relevant sphere.
Experiential learning that may be incontestible/associated.
Ability to use technology and or systems to enhance work processes
Strong and fluent candidate – each orally and written
General understanding of information management and different relevant systems (e.g. workplace systems together with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Multi-tasking
Strong organisational skills.
Requires sound expertise and understanding of easy procedures or systems furthermore as expertise in utilising relevant systems.
Ability to supply documents in PowerPoint, surpass and Word
