About this role
Sappi, a global producer of woodfibre products, is looking for a Production Foreman for its pulp operation in Mandeni. The role is about running the plant well: people, equipment and materials all need to work together to meet customer requirements and mill standards.
What you’ll do
- Lead a shift-based team on your assigned plant and manage its day-to-day work.
- Plan plant operations so that raw materials, energy and people are used as efficiently as possible.
- Oversee production activities, including shutdowns, start-ups, checks, log sheets and trend monitoring, to keep quality and efficiency on target.
- Coach and mentor your team, run on-the-job and off-the-job training, and review performance against goals and standards of conduct.
- Enforce SHEQ (safety, health, environment and quality) requirements, investigate incidents, find root causes and correct non-conformances.
- Recommend maintenance, upgrades or replacement of equipment to improve production efficiency, and manage the annual fixed cost, overtime and manpower budgets in your area.
- Deal with internal and external suppliers and customers, including responding to customer feedback and taking corrective action where needed.
What you need
- Matric (Grade 12) and a full N4 in pulp making, papermaking, or an NQF Level 5 qualification in a related field.
- At least 3 years of plant operations experience.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Computer literacy, including MS Office.
- SAP knowledge.
Is this job for you?
This role suits someone who has already worked in a production plant and has led a team on shift. You should be comfortable making decisions on the floor, keeping people safe and holding your team to clear standards.
Tips before you apply
