Senior Security Officer

About this role

Sasol, the global chemicals and energy company, is recruiting a Senior Security Officer for its Natref Durban operations in KwaZulu-Natal. The role protects people, information and company assets at the site against threats such as sabotage, espionage and attack.

What you’ll do

• Supervise contract security staff during your shift and control access and exit at the site.
• Run control room operations, including 24-hour monitoring of alarms, CCTV, vehicle tracking and other security systems.
• Respond to alarms and incidents, start call-out and emergency procedures, and report faults.
• Arrange perimeter and internal patrols, issue patrol duties, and complete inspection checklists.
• Control portable and mobile equipment, including firearms, and manage key control.
• Keep registers and the occurrence book up to date, and report incidents and misconduct to the Chief Security Officer before each shift ends.
• Act as the owner’s representative after hours and make sure site security and safety rules are followed.

What you need

• Grade 12 or equivalent (essential).
• A driver’s licence, Code 08 (essential).
• PSIRA Grade B registration (essential).
• A Firearm Competency Certificate issued under the Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000 (essential).
• At least 3 years of security or relevant experience.
• Certificate or diploma in Security Management, or equivalent (advantageous).
• NKP Certificate of Competency (preferred).
• Training in intruder detection, CCTV systems and electric fences (advantageous).
• Computer literacy.
• Knowledge of the NKP Act (102 of 1980) and the Criminal Procedure Act, including search, powers of arrest and use of force.
• You must be willing to be vetted before appointment.
