Senior Cashier

About this role

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for an experienced Senior Cashier for its store in Alberton, Gauteng. You will work at the point of sale, helping customers and keeping every transaction accurate.

What you’ll do

• Record customer sales on the Dis-Chem system, following company policies and standard procedures.
• Take payments of all kinds, including cash, bank cards, vouchers and coupons, and look after the cash in your till.
• Process loyalty cards, including those of Dis-Chem’s accelerator partners.
• Handle refunds, exchanges and returned goods, but only when you are authorised to do so.
• Get supervisor approval for line voids and price changes, and report complaints and compliments to your supervisor or store management.
• Keep your login details private and secure, and report any suspicious behaviour to management.

What you need

• Grade 12 / matric
• At least 3 years’ cashier or till operations experience.
• Basic computer skills, including MS Office.
• Good numerical skills and a strong command of English, both written and spoken.
• Basic customer service skills.
• Willing and able to work retail hours.
• Reliable transport, or you live close to the store.
• South African citizen, with a clear credit record and a clear criminal record.
• Advantageous: a third additional language.
