Store Manager

About this role

SPAR is hiring a Store Manager for its store in Piet Retief. The job covers the running of every department in the store, along with brand building and keeping the store’s reputation strong.

What you’ll do

• Keep shrinkage within the company’s target ratio and put policies in place to reduce stock loss.
• Plan sales and marketing activities that grow store revenue and bring more shoppers through the door.
• Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure stock.
• Plan and manage the store budget and finances.
• Review sales reports and customer feedback, and act on what they show.
• Control inventory and keep product standards high.
• Lead, develop and manage the teams in each department, including recruitment, training and workforce planning.
• Make sure health, food safety and other legal requirements are met every day.

What you need

• Matric (Grade 12).
• 3-4 years’ experience in a senior store management position.
• Good business and financial sense.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to solve problems and make decisions on your own.
• Basic computer skills.
• A retail qualification (advantageous).
• Willingness to work irregular hours when the business needs it.
• A valid South African driver’s licence.
• Your own reliable transport.
