About this role
Sappi is looking for an experienced Storeman at its site in Stanger, KwaZulu-Natal. The role keeps equipment and materials moving to the right customers and plants, in the right condition and on time. You will manage the receiving and upkeep of all stock items.
What you’ll do
- Receive materials under the receiving procedure and SAP process, and run quality checks on what comes in.
- Bin stock in the correct locations in SAP, following first-in, first-out (FIFO), and carry out daily counts when the MRP Controller asks for them.
- Issue materials under the issuing procedure. Deliver them to the plant or arrange delivery with equipment drivers.
- Move stock to new bins when needed, keep SAP up to date, and make sure physical stock matches the system.
- Label and identify materials clearly so they can be traced and counted accurately. Store them so they do not get damaged, spoiled, contaminated or lost.
- Run scheduled material maintenance, co-ordinate receiving and deliveries with the plant, and handle returned materials and their paperwork.
- Complete the after-hours delivery logbook each day, issue PPE, and report defects, unsafe conditions and incidents straight away.
What you need
- Grade 12 with Maths and Science.
- A National Diploma or Certificate in Inventory Management, Procurement, Stores or Materials Management, or N3 Engineering (all four subjects).
- EB Motor Vehicle Licence. You will also need to obtain licences to operate vehicles in the stores, including the overhead crane.
- Three years of relevant experience in a stores or warehouse environment (advantageous).
Is this job for you?
This job suits someone who already knows how stores work and is comfortable with stock systems. You should be careful with detail, safety-minded, and happy to work with the plant team to keep materials moving.
