About this role
Sappi, a global forestry and paper company, is hiring a Tractor Driver in Ngodwana. The role supports the cattle farming work on the farm and the wider farm operations.
What you’ll do
- Check tractors and attached equipment before each use, so they are safe and working properly.
- Mow open areas and farm roads so vehicles and equipment can move safely.
- Drive around the farm each day to move people and supplies for cattle work and other tasks.
- Help feed and look after cattle. This includes dehorning, branding, tick dipping, vaccinations, weaning and tagging, following set procedures.
- Check, fix and maintain farm fences and gates. Keep cattle inside and keep access routes safe.
- Help find and repair faults in freshwater lines, so cattle and the farm have a steady water supply.
- Keep in touch with the Cattle Supervisor, the Superintendent: Farm Operations and maintenance teams. Report faults and plan the day’s work.
- Keep the work area tidy, follow health, safety and environmental rules, and do other farm tasks as needed.
What you need
- Matric (Grade 12) with Maths and Physical Science, or an N3 in Pulp and Paper.
- At least six (6) months of relevant work experience.
- A valid driver’s licence.
- Experience with cattle or farm work is not stated in the advert, but the role involves daily cattle tasks. Any farm or livestock experience will help you.
