Artisan Gr 2 Mechanical Fitter

About this role

Sasol, a global integrated chemicals and energy company, is hiring an Artisan Gr 2 Mechanical Fitter for its Secunda Operations in Mpumalanga. The role is about keeping mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment and machines running safely and to plan.

What you’ll do

• Carry out routine mechanical and electro-mechanical tasks by following detailed instructions and meeting performance targets.
• Use the plant maintenance documentation system and the planning work management system.
• Complete task risk assessments, identify hazards and apply emergency procedures.
• Take part in daily morning meetings, root cause analyses and risk assessments to improve safety.
• Keep your work area clean and follow waste disposal procedures.
• Share your knowledge with junior artisans and mentor learners informally.
• Give feedback on work progress to your group leader or planning officer, and take the lead in team tasks when needed.

What you need

• Matric or N3, with Maths, English and Physical Science.
• An occupational trade qualification, specifically a Mechanical Red Seal.
• At least 3 years of relevant working experience.
• A valid driver’s licence.
• Working knowledge of plant or mine processes for your discipline, and of Sasol’s safety management systems.
• Strong troubleshooting, planning and decision-making skills.
