Assistant Manager

About this role

SPAR is looking for an Assistant Manager for its store in Caledon, Western Cape. You will work alongside the Store Manager to keep the store running well and profitable.

What you’ll do

• Oversee the profitability and performance of all service departments and help the store reach its targets.
• Manage stock levels to limit losses and keep popular products available.
• Check pricing accuracy, follow company policy and look after the point of sale (POS) system.
• Plan and monitor promotions that aim to grow sales, and make sure the store looks good and products are displayed well.
• Keep the store clean and tidy, and make sure health and safety rules are followed.
• Lead, train and schedule the team, and handle recruitment and discipline.
• Answer customer questions, sort out complaints quickly and build customer loyalty.
• Oversee opening and closing, daily operations, cash handling, banking and security.

What you need

• Matric or NQF Level 4 equivalent.
• Previous management experience in hot foods or service departments (advantageous).
• A diploma or degree in Business, Retail Management or a related field (advantageous).
