Assistant Manager

About this role

A SPAR store in Wynberg is looking for an Assistant Manager. You will support the Store Manager to keep the store running well and profitably.

The role is permanent and focuses on sales, stock control, hygiene and the store team.

What you’ll do

• Manage the profit and performance of all service departments and help the store hit its targets.
• Control stock levels to reduce losses and keep popular products on the shelf.
• Check pricing is accurate and follows company policy. Look after the POS system.
• Plan and run promotions to lift sales, and keep the store neat and well merchandised.
• Lead, schedule, train and develop the store team. Handle recruitment and discipline.
• Answer customer questions, sort out complaints quickly and build customer loyalty.
• Open and close the store, and oversee cash handling, banking and security.
• Keep the store clean, organised and within health and safety rules.

What you need

• Matric or NQF Level 4 equivalent.
• Previous management experience.
• Advantageous: a diploma or degree in Business, Retail Management or a related field.
• Advantageous: management experience in hot foods or service departments.
