POST 2 : HOUSEHOLD AID (X2 POSTS)

West Coast District
The annual salary will be R125 373.
SWARTLAND HOSPITAL, SUB – DISTRICT, CENTRE

HOUSEHOLD AID MANDATORY CONDITIONS:

Skills in reading,writing, and arithmetic are required as a bare minimum.

HOUSEHOLD AID Acquired Knowledge:

Experience in cleaning medical facilities or other environments related to health is required.
Skills in at least two of the three official languages spoken in the Western Cape are required for this position because they are an integral part of the job.
Capability of working at heights that require the use of a stepladder as well as lifting and moving heavy objects.
Willingness to work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, overtime, and night shifts, as well as any other duties that may be assigned.
When it is absolutely necessary, relief in other departments.

HOUSEHOLD AID Components of Competence (Knowledge and Skills):

POST 3 : CLEANER

THE VALKENGER HOSPITAL IS IN THE CENTRE.

MANDATORY CONDITIONS:

Qualifications educationally required as a minimum:
Literacy and numeracy are considered to be fundamental skills.

Acquired Knowledge:

Expertise and practical experience in the fields of cleaning and waste management are required.
Essential functions and responsibilities of the position:
A driver’s license with the B/EB validation code is valid.
Capable of communicating in a minimum of two of the three official languages used in the Western Cape.
The capacity to lift heavy objects due to one’s physical condition.

Capabilities

Skills in reading and mathematics are required.
Competence in the art of communication.
A familiarity with the activities of collecting waste, handling waste, sorting waste, and disposing of waste.
A familiarity with occupational health and safety policies as well as infection control procedures.

THE DUTY OF:

To prevent the spread of infection and injuries, it is important to maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment.
This can be accomplished by performing tasks such as sweeping, scrubbing, mopping floors, dusting, emptying bins, and cleaning windows.
After each use, the cleaning equipment, such as machines for polishing and scrubbing, mops, brooms, and buckets, should be thoroughly cleaned and then stored in a safe location.

At Karl Bremer Hospital, you will be responsible for providing a support service to nursing and all wards in the process of collecting, handling, sorting, and disposing of various waste products.
Handling and disposal of waste, including medical waste, in the appropriate manner.
Waste trolleys are used on a daily basis for the transportation of general as well as medical waste. Ensuring that waste containers are stored in a secure location and maintaining an inventory of waste containers in a room that can be locked.
To provide general support to the supervisor as well as assistance with the transportation of waste using vehicles when it is required.
