About this role
Nedbank is looking for a BI Developer to join its Data and Analytics team, based in Durban. The role supports the bank’s business intelligence work by turning raw data into information that teams can act on. You will work within a squad alongside data analysts and data engineers.
What you’ll do
- Build and maintain simple to medium BI solutions that draw on several data sources, using the bank’s standard technology.
- Help shape data models, data flows and integration requirements.
- Create and manage ETL workflows, making sure data is cleaned and loaded correctly.
- Build and tune data pipelines using query tools, scheduling tools such as Informatica or Microsoft SSIS, and scripting languages.
- Look after data warehouse structures, including data quality, integrity and security.
- Test data for inconsistencies, data type problems and quality issues, and design schemas, tables and relationships.
- Build reports, dashboards and visualisations, and present them to business stakeholders.
What you need
- A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems or a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience as a BI Developer.
- Strong SQL skills for pulling and changing data.
- Hands-on experience with a BI tool such as Power BI, Tableau or QlikSense.
- An understanding of data design, including star and snowflake schemas.
- Good communication skills, so you can explain data to people who are not technical.
- Behavioural strengths in adaptability, applied learning, communication, managing your work, quality orientation and learning from feedback.
Is this job for you?
This role suits someone who already has some BI development experience and enjoys building data pipelines and reports. You should be comfortable with SQL, keen to keep learning, and able to explain technical work in plain language.
