Casual Cashier

About this role

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for casual cashiers at its store in Mooirivier Mall, Potchefstroom. The job is about serving customers at the till and keeping every transaction accurate and secure.

What you’ll do

• Serve customers at the point of sale and keep to Dis-Chem’s customer service standards.
• Record every sale on the Dis-Chem system, following company policies and standard procedures.
• Receive and process all payments, including cash, bank cards, vouchers and coupons.
• Process loyalty cards, including the partner programmes such as Discovery Health, eBucks and ABSA Rewards.
• Handle refunds, exchanges and returned goods, but only when you are authorised to do so.
• Look after your till: keep cash secure, drop cash in the safe as set out in the procedures, and get supervisor approval for voids and price changes.
• Report complaints, compliments and suspicious behaviour to your supervisor or store management.

What you need

• Grade 12 (matric).
• At least 6 months of cashier or till experience.
• Basic computer skills, including MS Office.
• Good numerical skills and a strong command of English, both written and spoken.
• Basic customer service skills.
• Willingness and ability to work retail hours.
• Reliable transport, or living close to the store.
• South African citizenship.
• A clear credit record and a clear criminal record.
• Advantageous: a third additional language.
