Requirements :
- Adult education and training (AET/ABET) LEVEL 3 or equivalent (Grade 7). No experience required. Skills/Knowledge/Competence Basic understanding of Policies (Batho Pele Principles, Patients Right Charter, Occupational Health and Safety, Six Priorities and National Core Standards). Knowledge of cleaning procedures and basic knowledge of the health systems. Good listening skills, interpersonal skills, communication, observation skills, and organization skills. Ability to work independently and harmoniously within a team. Ability to act with tact and discretion. Must be self-motivated. Ability to work under pressure. Ability to work under pressure. Knowledge of Labour Relations processes. Ability to handle tasks of multidisciplinary nature. Must be prepared to work shifts which includes, fixed, after hours, night duty, weekends and public holidays. Must be able to operate cleaning equipment and machines.
Duties :
- Cleaning of floors (sweep, mop and buffing with cleaning machines). Cleaning of walls, windows, doors and window frames, bathrooms, showers and lockers, dusting, washing and polishing furniture. Cleaning corridors, public toilets, offices, clinics, entrances, stairs, fire escapes, side walls, lifts, passages, waiting areas, equipment and carpets. Removal of medical and general waste, cleaning bins and flattening cardboard boxes. Adhere to the health care waste management policy and infection control prescripts. Operate heavy duty cleaning machines. Provide clean and hygienic environment. Handle and store linen; defrost and clean unit refrigerator; refill soap containers. Remove food leftovers, when necessary. Care for and cleaning of unit kitchen; controlling of stock in the kitchen and report to supervisor. Keeping trolleys clean. Controlling of stock in the kitchen and bathroom. Sorting and sealing contaminated linen. Completion of daily work activities on cleaning control list. To adhere to all cleaning service policies and procedures. Adhere to timelines. Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). Perform other duties as allocated by the supervisor. Be willing to undergo continuous training and development programs. Attend meetings and training as approved by supervisor. Comply with the Performance Management and Development System (Contracting, quarterly reviews and final assessment). (Contracting, reviewing, and final evaluation).
