Specifications of the Job

Participate in the Dis-Chem Pharmacies and Cosmetics Retail Learnership as a member of the pilot group at one of the locations across the country.
You only need a high school diploma and a genuine interest in the beauty and cosmetics industry, as well as sales.

The learnership will focus solely on the cosmetics department, where incumbents will be trained to become Cosmetic Sales Consultants after completing the program.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

Matric – Completion of Grade 12 or Higher Certificates with a minimum of 50 percent in both Math and Lit
devoted to the study of makeup and beauty products
being available and willing to work during retail business hours
Educated in computers and proficient in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Advantage:

Previous employment history within the field of retail
experience with SAP and a driver’s license are both required.

Function and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the loading, unloading, and unpacking of stock as it is received in the warehouse.
  • Take extra precautions when handling all of the merchandise to avoid incurring any losses.
  • Help and advice should be given to each and every customer in a friendly, helpful, and courteous manner.
  • Makeovers, cosmetic demonstrations, spray promotion, and other activities can all be used to showcase the products.
  • Provide customers with advice, but don’t coerce them into switching from their current brand of choice.
  • Through observance of the processes and procedures pertaining to stock rotation, maintain both damaged and expired inventory.
  • When necessary, assist with the counting of stock files and general stock taking tasks.
  • Both the area around the store’s windows and the rest of the establishment as a whole need to be kept to a very high level of cleanliness. Merchandising and displays also need to be kept in good condition.
  • Ensure that displays are presented in an appealing manner.
  • Make it a point to always stock the shelves with the complete assortments of products.
  • Informing management of low stock levels, items that are currently out of stock, damaged stock, and expired stock is required.
  • Customers who have questions about items that are out of stock should have their questions answered using the out of stock list.
  • Dis-standards Chem’s require that merchandise be clearly marked, and displays must be kept in order.
  • Please let management know about any and all price differences.
  • Proceed with the payment at the Point of Sale of the Cosmetic Department (POS).
  • Put promotional activities into action in accordance with the requirements of the business.
  • Resolve customer queries / complaints.
  • Within the Cosmetics Department, you should strive to meet the sales quotas for a variety of different vendors and brands.
  • Maintain a level of in-depth knowledge regarding both established and emerging brands, products, and the retail sector in general.
  • Make certain that appointments at the salon are booked in the appropriate manner.
  • You will be in charge of all promotions involving fragrances, cosmetics, and beauty houses.
