Creditors Supervisor

About this role

Mr Price Group is hiring a Creditors Supervisor based in Durban. You will lead the Accounts Payable function, keeping supplier accounts, creditor payments, reconciliations and month-end processes accurate and on time. You will also manage and develop the creditors team.

What you’ll do

• Review and authorise creditor payments so suppliers are paid correctly and within agreed terms.
• Manage supplier master data, including creating, changing and deactivating suppliers, and chase up supplier debit balances.
• Review aged creditor reports and make sure open items are cleared.
• Review and approve supplier reconciliations, and investigate long-outstanding items and statement queries.
• Oversee the month-end Accounts Payable close across all countries, including payment journals, intercompany payments, cash repatriations and unmatched invoices and receipts.
• Keep process documents up to date, support internal and external audits, and provide accurate cash flow information to Treasury and business stakeholders.
• Lead, coach and develop your team through meetings, training and performance discussions.

What you need

• A diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
• At least 5 years’ experience in a creditors or Accounts Payable environment.
• At least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or team leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of creditor reconciliations, month-end processes, supplier management and financial controls.
• Strong organisation skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of BEE certificate requirements for suppliers is useful, as you will make sure active suppliers have valid certificates on file.
