Debtors Coordinator

About this role

Pepkor Lifestyle is looking for a Debtors Coordinator to join its finance team in Sandton, Gauteng. You will look after the company’s accounts receivable, make sure outstanding debts are collected on time, and keep customer account records accurate.

What you’ll do

• Collect reports from several platforms and use them to reconcile and allocate customer payments.
• Find out why queries and outstanding items are open, then follow them up until they are closed.
• Process customer refunds.
• Handle customer complaints quickly and properly. Resolve them where you can, or escalate them according to agreed standards.
• Manage fraudulent credit card transactions and charge-backs received from banks.
• Review and reconcile customer accounts regularly. Investigate and fix any discrepancies or disputes.
• Apply the legislation that affects customers and keep to the company’s customer service code.

What you need

• Grade 12.
• 3-5 years of collections experience.
• Previous credit control experience, including online environments.
• A sound understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
• Knowledge of online retail.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience helping customers resolve payment issues.
• Ability to work independently and set your own priorities.
• Strong analytical skills and a detail-oriented approach.
• Advantageous: a Bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field.
• Advantageous: knowledge of the legal rules for debt collection.
