Cashier Job Description

Collect and account for the cash from the drivers.
Pay the appropriate amount to the appropriate driver based on the receipt.
Create a bank account, making sure it’s in the black every day.
Cash and checks are must be recorded in the cash-up summary.
Prepare deposit for bank
Make entries in the register with the seal numbers.
Always remember to keep the door to the cash office secured.
Put cash in a secure location overnight.
Previous day’s takings are to be promptly removed from the premises.
Reduce the risk of cash shortages as much as possible.

Cashier Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (with maths & accounting)
Two to three years’ experience working as a cashier or at a bank, in addition to general office work experience is required.
Literate in using computers (Word, Excel & Syspro)

Cashier Duties & Responsibilities

Effective communication abilities both orally and in writing
Accuracy at a very high level
Ability to accept responsibility for one’s actions
Organized
