About this role
Absa is looking for a Financial Adviser to work in its Everyday Banking team in Hermanus. The adviser will help clients plan for their financial future through investment, life insurance and estate planning advice.
What you’ll do
- Build and keep good working relationships with clients, bank staff, product providers and adviser support staff.
- Assess each client’s needs with approved needs analysis tools, and make sure clients understand the full value of the advice on offer.
- Prepare and present written recommendations and quotes for risk and investment products, following FAIS rules at every step.
- Complete product applications with the client, then submit them to product providers and check that the issued policy matches the advice.
- Review each client’s portfolio at least once a year and keep in touch as agreed with the client.
- Manage your own commission, follow up on unpaid premiums and lapses, and keep the client database up to date.
- Supervise and coach your adviser assistants, and keep compliant records in line with FAIS, FICA and FSB requirements.
What you need
- At least 2 to 3 years of financial planning or advice experience in long-term insurance and investments.
- An NQF 5 FSB-approved qualification worth 120 FAIS credits.
- RE 5 certification.
- Fit and proper status for the licence categories you will advise under, and the ability to keep it.
- Willingness to complete Absa’s accreditation training and compliance exams, including Anti-Money Laundering, Sanctions, BCM and Basic Financial Crime Concepts.
- Strong networking and sales skills, with the drive to meet growth targets.
