Minimum Conditions:

Grade 12/Matric (NQF level 4)
No experience is necessary because successful applicants will receive training to become traffic wardens;
An affidavit stating that the applicant has no criminal history;
A valid driver’s license, which will be an added advantage.

Primary Purpose:

To patrol a designated area for the enforcement of general law and order in accordance with the authority granted to peace officers under Government Notice R159 of February 2, 1979, as amended, with a focus on crime prevention under the Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1977 and other laws (such as the National Road Traffic Act and CoJ By-laws).

  • Assist in crime prevention and uphold law and order to ensure that obligations based on the Batho Pele Principles are carried out.
  • Uphold and carry out the Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1977’s provisions to guarantee the provision of public safety services in accordance with the Batho Pele Principles.
  • Take part in community-based services to guarantee that public safety services are provided in accordance with the Batho Pele Principles.
  • Assist in carrying out crime prevention duties to guarantee the provision of public safety based on the Batho Pele Principles.
