Junior Chemical Plant Operator

About this role

Sasol, the integrated chemicals and energy company, is hiring a Junior Chemical Plant Operator at its Secunda Operations site in Mpumalanga. The role supports the coordination of maintenance and repairs on one process within a production line. You will manage control panels and help solve more complex faults.

What you’ll do

• Work on your own when needed, and keep your supervisor updated on how work is progressing.
• Take part in risk assessments and shift handover meetings.
• Follow safety rules, keep your work area tidy, and dispose of waste the right way.
• Help carry out inspections under the company’s integrated management system to keep the plant running well.
• Coach learners and share knowledge about specific plant equipment.
• Play your part in emergencies and help get the plant back online.
• Work well with your team and other departments, and give input at toolbox talks.

What you need

• Matric or N3, with Mathematics, English and Physical Science.
• CHIETA NQF Level 2 Chemical Operations with CPO SOR, or the Chemical Plant Operator occupational qualification (CPO EISA).
• At least 1 year of relevant work experience.
• A valid driver’s licence.
• Skills in communication, production risk management, procedure management, equipment use and accountability.
