Merchandiser

About this role

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Merchandiser for its Hemmingways store in East London, Eastern Cape. You will keep the shop floor stocked, tidy and well presented, and help customers find what they need.

What you’ll do

• Restock shelves and displays so products sell well, and make sure stock is stored in the right place on time.
• Rotate stock on a first-in, first-out basis and check for products near or past their sell-by date.
• Report low stock, empty shelves, damaged stock, expired stock and price problems to management.
• Help with stock counts, stocktaking, loading and offloading, and flattening and removing boxes.
• Keep shelves, labels and pricing neat, and follow Dis-Chem store layouts and planograms.
• Answer customer questions in a friendly way and follow up on out-of-stock requests.
• Help train new staff and keep up with new and current products.

What you need

• Grade 12 (matric).
• Up to 6 months of retail experience.
• Basic computer skills, including MS Office.
• Willing and able to work retail hours.
• Able to lift and move heavy boxes safely.
• Strong English and a presentable, honest and reliable manner.
• Reliable transport, or live close to the store.
• South African citizen with a clear credit record and criminal record.
• Advantageous: at least 1 year of retail experience.
• Advantageous: bilingual, knowledge of merchandising standards or the FMCG industry, and the ability to read ZMORE reports.
