The episode of “Uthando Nes’thembu” that aired on Wednesday night was replete with plot twists and drama, leaving viewers eager for more.
“Uthando Nes’thembu” is a reality program that has consistently been replete with drama, as Musa Mseleku provides viewers with a candid glimpse into his life as a polygamist, who has ten children and currently lives with five wives.
Nevertheless, the drama was elevated to a new level during season eight, particularly due to the introduction of Samke Makhwela, Musa Mseleku’s fifth wife.
The episode focused on an ancestral ceremony that Mseleku conducted to express gratitude following the occurrence of two strokes in a brief period. Nevertheless, the ceremony’s rationale was unexpected, and certain wives, with the exception of the first wife, MaCele, were unwilling to disclose it.
Mseleku made an announcement during the ceremony that the Duma family, who were in attendance, should go outside to introduce “uNumber 5” (the fifth wife) before everyone began to eat.
One of the Duma family members proposed that the new wife be introduced in the same home where they were all present, rather than outside, as Mseleku had intended.
The spouses were not amenable to the abrupt change, as they perceived it as disrespectful and unwelcome by the family member’s recommendation. MaYeni, MaKhumalo, and MaNgwabe are among the wives who were opposed to the notion of Musa introducing the fifth wife during the ancestral ceremony.
Mseleku’s announcement was perceived as a transgression by the wives, who have consistently expressed their reluctance to meet the new wife.
The tension was evident when the wives refused to allow the new wife to be introduced in their presence. Viewers appeared to be captivated by this episode, as evidenced by the responses on social media.
