Operations Officer (Bulk & Commercial)

About this role

The City of Ekurhuleni is hiring an Operations Officer for its Waste Management operations depot in Gauteng. The post keeps daily depot work running smoothly, from routes and fleet to staff and budgets.

What you’ll do

• Plan and manage short, medium and long-term operations at the depot.
• Coordinate the different sub-services in the depot so resources are used well.
• Plan vehicle routes so work and vehicles are shared fairly and evenly.
• Look after the depot’s administration and day-to-day paperwork.
• Balance productivity against workload and plan for operational needs.
• Find training gaps among staff, and apply discipline where needed.
• Manage the depot fleet and make sure council policies are followed.
• Control income and expenditure for the section, and look for cost-effective ways to deliver services and grow revenue.

What you need

• Grade 12 certificate.
• National Diploma in Environmental Management, Environmental Health or Waste Management, or an equivalent NQF 6 qualification.
• A valid Code B driver’s licence.
• Computer literacy.
• 3 years of relevant work experience.
• Proof of your NQF level may be requested.
