The RCL FOODS Talent Team is on the hunt for a passionate Packaging Technologist Intern to join our R&D Team based in Randfontein.
The successful incumbent will be entrusted to support packaging development initiatives, ensuring innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions that meet both customer and business needs. This role will provide exposure to packaging design, testing, and compliance processes, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver projects that enhance product quality and efficiency.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with packaging specifications, barcode verification reports, and colour standards from suppliers to sites, capturing them on the system for easy access and audit use.
- Perform dimensional and functional testing to ensure conformance to specifications and quality expectations of packed products.
- Support standard operating procedures for start-up and production, monitoring throughputs, efficiencies, and wastages.
- Assist with data collection to validate packaging and packing compliance.
- Participate in online trials with new suppliers or alternate materials to match or improve current packaging materials.
Minimum Requirements
- Packaging Diploma (IPSA)
- Food Technology /Biotechnology Diploma/ Bachelor Degree ( or studying towards degree)
- Knowledge of Packaging formats,materials, and machinery
- Knowledge of Packing analysis and validation
- Knowledge of HACCPA & ISO Standards
- Capture data and report on findings
- Route cause analysis on basic packaging challenges
- Ability to document results
- Ability to communicate well with line stuff
