Private Credit Specialist

About this role

FirstRand, through FNB Private Credit, is looking for a Private Credit Specialist based in Bellville. The role is about making sound credit decisions within a set mandate. You will look at each client’s finances, track record and business case before you recommend a deal.

What you’ll do

• Manage a portfolio of high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients.
• Attend client meetings with the lending specialist and the advisory team.
• Learn how each client and their wider group is built, across lending, investing, insurance and transacting.
• Study the client’s wealth plans and spot lending needs and opportunities.
• Analyse financial ratios, cash flows and industry trends, then structure the deal and write the credit paper.
• Present requests to the mandated individuals or committees, then explain the outcome, covenants and process to the client.

What you need

• A BCom Finance or BCom Accounting degree.
• 1-3 years or more of credit experience, with solid business acumen.
• A strong grasp of financial statement analysis and credit risk assessment.
• Skill in modelling cash flows for debt service, forecasting, key ratio analysis and covenant design.
• Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills, with internal and external stakeholders.
• Good attention to detail, integrity, and the ability to work both alone and in a team.
• A Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is advantageous.
