About this role
The City of Ekurhuleni is looking for a Senior Engineer to run the operations and maintenance of its total electrical distribution network. You will work within the Distribution Business Unit and help shape the section’s targets and budget.
What you’ll do
- Lead the operations and maintenance of the electrical distribution network across the Distribution Business Unit.
- Set operational and budget targets for your section that support divisional plans and the city’s strategic goals.
- Advise on installations and day-to-day operations that reduce network security risks, or the frequency and severity of those risks.
- Monitor quality so that work meets required standards, specifications and codes.
- Manage depot-level section staff, including how people are deployed and the work environment they operate in.
- Manage the section budget and apply supply chain management procurement rules.
- Oversee contractors and consultants on maintenance, refurbishment and operations projects.
- Put the department’s asset management strategy into practice and keep records and documentation in order.
What you need
- A B Degree in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current), or a relevant NQF 7 qualification.
- Registration with ECSA as a Pr Eng., Pr Tech Eng. or Pr Cert Eng.
- Five years of experience in operating, maintaining and refurbishing municipal electrical distribution networks.
- A valid Code B driver’s licence.
- An Electrical Engineer’s Certificate of Competency (advantageous).
