Senior Engineering Assistant - HV Plant Management

About this role

Eskom, South Africa’s state electricity utility, is recruiting a Senior Engineering Assistant for its HV Plant Management team in Springbok. The role supports a safe, organised and planned centralised operating and maintenance service for high voltage plant and related equipment within the Grid.

What you’ll do

• Carry out maintenance work on high voltage plant and equipment.
• Support the day-to-day operation of HV plant.
• Make sure work follows safety, health and environmental policies.
• Respond to repairs and breakdowns on site.
• Mentor and coach learners and fellow employees.
• Give technical advice to the team.
• Keep plant documentation and configuration records up to date.

What you need

• Required: Trade Certificate in Electrical (Heavy Current) at NQF 4 with 120 credits.
• Required: 3 years of electrical experience.
• Required: A certificate to carry out maintenance according to HV Plant verification requirements.
• Required: Knowledge of plant and equipment, local operating procedures, planning and operating procedures, and switchgear maintenance.
• Required: Knowledge of the Operating Regulations for High Voltage Systems (ORHVS) and Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
• Required: Professionalism, honesty and integrity.
• Required: A team player who can lead, coach and develop others.
