Senior Manager: Digital & Integration DevOps

About this role

Telkom is looking for a Senior Manager to lead software development teams in Centurion, Gauteng. The role sits in the Digital and Information division and reports to Executive Management.

You will oversee front-end, middleware and back-end application development, and guide several Agile delivery teams.

What you’ll do

• Lead multifunctional software development teams and set their direction.
• Manage Team Leads, delegate work and control resources from project start to finish.
• Run regular performance reviews, help set targets, and deal with both strong and weak performance.
• Track team utilisation and development velocity, and plan longer-term resourcing needs.
• Inspect and quality assure code, and make sure teams follow sound software principles.
• Promote Agile and DevOps practices, and recommend better technology and processes.
• Represent the development teams at senior management level.

What you need

• NQF 6 National Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Certificate in Computer Science or Engineering.
• 7 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in management.
• At least 2 years managing software development or team lead roles, with proven project delivery.
• At least 5 years of solid software development experience.
• Experience managing software development teams.
• Strong knowledge of software development cycles, QA, test automation and DevOps.
• Understanding of application architecture and enterprise application building.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including explaining technical topics to executives and non-technical leaders.
• Advantageous: industry or development platform certifications.
• Advantageous: telecommunications experience.
• Advantageous: TM Forum API and process understanding.
• Advantageous: technical or systems design experience.
• Advantageous: research, analysis, design and implementation skills.
• Working knowledge of technologies such as Java, JavaScript, Node.js, Angular, PHP, MySQL, Git, Docker, Kubernetes and Linux.
