Structural Draughtsperson

About this role

RPO Recruitment is placing a structural draughtsperson with a multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm in Johannesburg. The role supports engineering projects that cover steel structures, reinforced concrete and civil works.

What you’ll do

• Produce detailed engineering drawings for structural steelwork, reinforced concrete and civil infrastructure projects.
• Prepare steel detailing and fabrication drawings that are accurate enough to build from.
• Draw reinforcement layouts and prepare rebar bending schedules.
• Turn engineering requirements into drawings that a builder or fabricator can use directly.
• Work from civil engineering drawings and support infrastructure projects.
• Work closely with engineers and other members of multidisciplinary project teams.

What you need

• A relevant qualification in draughting, structural draughting or a related engineering discipline.
• A sound engineering background and a practical understanding of how structural and civil works are designed and built.
• Demonstrable experience in structural steel detailing and fabrication drawings.
• Experience with reinforced concrete detailing, including reinforcement layouts and rebar bending schedules.
• Exposure to civil engineering drawings and infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in design and draughting software, particularly Advance Steel, AutoCAD, Revit and Civil 3D.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to read technical information accurately.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
