Job Description
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Production Alterations General Worker to support our embroidery and garment preparation processes.
This role involves a variety of hands-on production tasks, including garment cleaning, racking, cutting materials, ironing, and packing final finished products.
The ideal candidate is hardworking, attentive to detail, and able to follow production processes accurately in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Job Purpose
To perform general operational duties within the production environment, ensuring garment preparation, alterations, finishing, and handling are executed accurately, efficiently, and according to job card requirements.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Stock Movement & Handling
- Move stock between production areas as required.
- Rack and off-rack garments for embroidery and printing processes.
- Ensure embroidered items are handled carefully and returned to designated stations.
2. Racking & Off-Racking Garments
- Rack garments onto the embroidery machine.
- Off-rack garments after branding and ensure they are placed into the curing tunnel (where applicable).
- Verify that garments have cured properly before progressing to the next stage.
3. Unpacking & Packing Stock
- Unpack stock and inspect the correctness, condition, and quality against the job card.
- Pack branded stock after performing QC checks to confirm accuracy of branding vs job card instructions.
- Maintain high attention to detail when preparing orders.
4. Garment Cleaning & Alterations Support
- Remove threading, backing, and excess materials from embroidered garments using embroidery scissors.
- Clean garments thoroughly to ensure a professional finish.
- Iron garments as needed to ensure neatness before QC or packing.
5. Material Cutting
- Cut material according to templates using the cutting machine/scissors.
- Follow cutting specifications exactly to avoid material waste or defects.
6. Order Preparation & Packing
- Prepare, fold, and pack completed orders according to customer and production requirements.
- Label, count, and verify quantities before sealing orders for dispatch.
7. Housekeeping & Equipment Care
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area at all times.
- Assist with cleaning of equipment and production stations.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines and report hazards immediately.
Qualifications
- Minimum NQF Level 4 or equivalent.
Job Knowledge
- Basic understanding of health and safety standards.
- Knowledge of embroidery processes and garment handling.
- Familiarity with production flow and quality control principles.
