REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12.
  • National Diploma in library science or Information Management or an equivalent NQF level 6 qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Code 10 driver’s license with PDP.
  • Previous experience within a public library environment will be an added advantage.
  • A highly motivated, self-disciplined individual.
  • Good communication, telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills.

  • Skills and competencies associated with vocation: adaptability, communication, assertiveness/leadership skills, conflict and stress management, negotiation skills, problem solving skills, office/diary management skills, administrative skills, writing and typing skills, attention to detail.
  • knowledge of administration methods, principles, procedures and the application thereof within a public library environment.
  • Two (02) to Three (03) years’ relevant experience in a Public Library environment within a Local Government Authority.

DUTIES

  • Provide an effective and professional library information service to the community.
  • Responsible for the preparation, filing, sorting and indexing of new and existing books.
  • Responsible for processing library information and statistics.
  • Responsible to assist with user guidance, study guidance and general enquiries.
  • Responsible for counter duty and receiving money for book fines and photocopy charges.
  • Maintain the physical quality of library material.
  • Maintain and update the library catalogue.
  • Perform any other Ad Hoc tasks and duties as requested or required by management (supervisor) from time to time.

SALARY          R 274 380.00 p.a. – R 313 416.00 p.a. (Level 08 of a Grade 04 Local Authority)

                                                                Total package inclusive of all benefits: R 439 507.40 p.a.
