REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12.
- National Diploma in library science or Information Management or an equivalent NQF level 6 qualification will be an added advantage.
- Code 10 driver’s license with PDP.
- Previous experience within a public library environment will be an added advantage.
- A highly motivated, self-disciplined individual.
- Good communication, telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills.
- Skills and competencies associated with vocation: adaptability, communication, assertiveness/leadership skills, conflict and stress management, negotiation skills, problem solving skills, office/diary management skills, administrative skills, writing and typing skills, attention to detail.
- knowledge of administration methods, principles, procedures and the application thereof within a public library environment.
- Two (02) to Three (03) years’ relevant experience in a Public Library environment within a Local Government Authority.
DUTIES
- Provide an effective and professional library information service to the community.
- Responsible for the preparation, filing, sorting and indexing of new and existing books.
- Responsible for processing library information and statistics.
- Responsible to assist with user guidance, study guidance and general enquiries.
- Responsible for counter duty and receiving money for book fines and photocopy charges.
- Maintain the physical quality of library material.
- Maintain and update the library catalogue.
- Perform any other Ad Hoc tasks and duties as requested or required by management (supervisor) from time to time.
SALARY R 274 380.00 p.a. – R 313 416.00 p.a. (Level 08 of a Grade 04 Local Authority)
Total package inclusive of all benefits: R 439 507.40 p.a.
