Clinical Nurse (R/N) - Experienced

About this role

Netcare is hiring an experienced Clinical Nurse for its Boksburg Medicross hospital. The job covers hands-on patient care, guiding the nursing team on the unit, and working closely with doctors and other health professionals.

What you’ll do

• Assess, plan, carry out and record nursing care for patients, and act as a clinical resource for the nursing team on your unit.
• Start and lead emergency treatment (resuscitation) for any patient in the hospital, working quickly and within your scope of practice.
• Take part in ward rounds with doctors, help build care plans and coordinate patient services.
• Keep patients and families informed, and speak up for patients when needed.
• Write shift handover notes covering patient status, staff-to-patient ratios and any problems, and keep the unit manager updated.
• Help set safe, clean and secure standards for patients, staff and visitors, and check that supplies and equipment are used safely.
• Plan staff allocation and adjust staffing levels based on patient needs. Help train, mentor and orient nursing staff and students.

What you need

• Essential: Registration as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Essential: Thorough knowledge of general or specialised nursing theory and practice.
• Essential: Extensive knowledge of modern nursing care principles and practices.
• Essential: Experience as a nurse is required for this experienced post.
• Advantageous: Comfort with digital systems, such as electronic patient records and e-scripts.
