What you’ll do

  • Inspect commercial vehicles, drivers and their documents carefully, using set inspection sheets and procedures.
  • Carry out pre-entry checks and issue inspection certificates.
  • Reject any vehicle that fails inspection, and report defects or incidents to your Foreman.
  • Issue dispatch and loading or offloading documents, and record vehicle and driver details.
  • Authorise vehicles on the LES system and keep track of vehicle movements.
  • Talk to drivers clearly and keep the work area and buildings tidy.

What you need

  • High school certificate or a similar school diploma.
  • Good reading, writing and speaking skills in English.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good interpersonal skills, and confidence to deal firmly with transport drivers.

  • Ability to follow rules, regulations and safety procedures.
  • Advantageous: knowledge of process safety, transport loads, traffic and vehicle planning, or logistics administration.
