Engineer Professional Engineering X2 (Control and Instrumentation)

About this role

Eskom is hiring a Control and Instrumentation engineer for Lethabo Power Station, near Deneysville in the Free State. The role is about keeping the plant you are assigned to running well, and making it better over time.

What you’ll do

• Find ways to improve how your allocated plant performs.
• Spot plant problems, dig into the cause and fix them.
• Manage changes made to the plant.
• Lead engineering projects from start to finish.
• Give technical advice to colleagues and other teams.

What you need

• A BSc or B Eng degree in Engineering at NQF 8, with 480 credits.
• Either a completed graduate training programme or two years of engineering experience.
• Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Candidate Engineer.
• Working knowledge of DCS, PLC and SCADA platforms.
• Familiarity with industrial networks and protocols such as Industrial IP, Profibus, Modbus and OPC.
• Knowledge of national and international engineering codes and standards, and power station plant fundamentals.
• Skills in root cause analysis, troubleshooting, technical report writing and analytical thinking.
• Good communication, teamwork and leadership skills, plus basic computer literacy.
