Fertiliser Sales Agent

About this role

Constantia Fertiliser, part of the TWK Group, is hiring a Fertiliser Sales Agent. The post is advertised from Port Shepstone, but the successful candidate will cover the South Coast area of KwaZulu-Natal. The job is about selling fertiliser to farmers and helping them plan feeding programmes for their crops.

What you’ll do

• Build a solid working knowledge of fertiliser products, including what they contain, what they do and how they are applied.
• Recommend the right products and application plans so they suit each customer’s farming goals.
• Handle fertiliser orders, making sure quantities are right and deliveries arrive on schedule.
• Answer customer questions and offer technical support before and after a sale.
• Work out cost estimates and proposals for fertiliser programmes that fit each customer’s crops and budget.
• Plan basic fertiliser programmes for crops such as wheat, canola, barley, oats, lupins, lucerne and cover crops.
• Take soil and leaf samples, and monitor crops during the growing season.
• Find new business opportunities and keep good relationships with customers so they come back.

What you need

• Matric / Grade 12.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in sales, management or agriculture.
• 5 years of experience in the fertiliser industry.
• BASOS certificate (advantageous).
• Good negotiation skills.
• Computer literacy.
• Your own transport.
• Strong self-discipline, a team player and a driver of targets and goals.
