About this role

GrowthArch is looking for a Fleet Project Manager based in the City of Johannesburg Rural area, Gauteng. You will own the delivery of a national programme that recruits, trains and supports drivers. Partners run the day-to-day fleet and vehicle operations, so your job is to build the team and controls that keep them on track.

What you’ll do

  • Build and own the national rollout plan, including phasing by province, milestones, budget and resourcing.
  • Track progress against targets. Report weekly to the COO and monthly to programme stakeholders and funders.
  • Spot, log and manage risks and issues, and escalate them when needed.
  • Oversee the pipeline for sourcing, screening and onboarding unemployed participants as drivers.
  • Make sure drivers meet regulatory requirements, including PrDP, operating licences and vetting. Oversee their training, performance and ongoing support.
  • Act as the main day-to-day contact for partners and government stakeholders. Hold delivery partners to agreed service levels.
  • Recruit and develop regional coordinators and support staff. Keep records ready for audits and impact reporting.

What you need

  • A Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma in Logistics, Transport Management, Project Management, Business Management or a related field.
  • A valid South African driver’s licence, Code B or higher, and willingness to travel nationally.
  • At least 5 years of project or programme management experience, including multi-site or national projects.
  • At least 3 years of fleet management or logistics experience, ideally managing 100 or more vehicles.
  • Working knowledge of fleet tracking and telematics reporting, enough to read partner data and question performance.
  • Experience managing budgets, suppliers and third-party service providers.
  • Knowledge of the National Land Transport Act, POPIA and labour legislation.
  • Advantageous: a PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent project management certification.
  • Advantageous: experience in e-hailing, taxi, car rental, vehicle finance or asset-based lending.
  • Advantageous: experience in enterprise development, job creation or socio-economic development programmes.
  • Advantageous: proficiency in isiZulu or another South African language, besides English.

Is this job for you?

This role suits an experienced manager who likes to plan, scale and report. You should be comfortable with dashboards and KPIs, confident dealing with partners and funders, and calm when operations go wrong. You also need a real interest in job creation and economic inclusion.

Tips before you apply

  • Have your driver’s licence details, degree or diploma certificate and any project management certificates ready to upload.
  • On your CV, give numbers. Show the fleet size, budget values and number of sites or provinces you have managed.
  • Show your partner management work with examples. Explain how you set service levels and what you did when a partner missed them.
