Requirements :
- ABET Level 3/ minimum of Grade 9 or equivalent qualification (authentic school report). No experience required. Exposure in the food service industry will be added as advantage. Numeracy and literacy skills. Good communication (verbal & written) skills. Applicants should have a basic Knowledge, understanding of food safety and various hygiene practice necessary in the food service unit. Applicants should understand the Batho Pele Principle in relation to the food service unit. Must be willing to work shifts, public holidays and weekends.
Duties :
- Perform specific duties regarding, storage, preparation, cooking, dishing up and distribution of food and snacks, for patients on normal and special diets. Assist with preparation of food for normal and therapeutic diets including snacks. Cooking, dishing up for the patients according to portion control measures. Ensure the portions served are according to the stipulate dietary allowances. Pack food on the delivery trollies according to the wards. Responsible for the general cleanliness and hygiene of the food service unit and practice clean as you work rule (cleaning of the floor, utensils and equipment, waste segregation and sanitation in the food service). Wear appropriate uniform and protective clothing. Operate and care for equipment’s also report broken equipment’s and faulty equipment as well as any observed risks. Rotate to different areas in the food service units and undergo food service work related trainings. Ensure compliance with the Ideal Hospital Framework, Batho Pele principles, and patient rights and infection control. Contribute to managing complaints and patient safety incidents.
