Junior Cold Store Operations Clerk

About this role

Ellahi Consulting is looking for a Junior Cold Store Operations Clerk for its seafood import and export operation in Atlantis Industrial, Western Cape. The role mixes hands-on cold store work with accurate stock and system records.

What you’ll do

• Help load and offload trucks, containers and delivery vehicles safely, following the site’s standard operating procedures.
• Move frozen products from blast freezers to their cold storage areas using material handling equipment.
• Count incoming and outgoing cartons and check weights against delivery manifests and driver logs.
• Work with the Quality Department to spot and report temperature problems, damaged packaging and stock differences.
• Capture goods received vouchers, allocate stock on the system and follow up on SAP problem orders.
• Check delivery notes and proof of delivery documents, and keep internal records up to date.
• Track contractor working hours, check safety compliance, keep the leave register and complete daily equipment checklists.
• Keep dispatch, receiving and cold store areas clean and hazard-free.

What you need

• Grade 12 (matric) is essential.
• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role in a cold store and/or warehouse environment is essential.
• Experience in the protein industry, such as meat, fish or dairy, is advantageous.
• Knowledge of HACCP, food safety standards and SOPs is advantageous.
• Experience using a Warehouse Management System (WMS) is advantageous.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel, Teams and OneDrive.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Good attention to detail, time management and organisation.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle pressure and short deadlines.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays, and to work in a cold, fast-paced environment.
• Honesty, reliability and a sense of ownership of your work.
