Mechanical Serviceman

About this role

Impala Platinum (Implats) is looking for a Mechanical Serviceman for its Limpopo operations. The role supports the making, repair and servicing of mechanical parts, and it is done with safety and efficiency in mind.

What you’ll do

• Install and maintain mechanical equipment safely and at a reasonable cost.
• Carry out routine planned inspections on all mechanical equipment.
• Write up inspection findings in a report and send it to your supervisor.
• Repair faulty equipment quickly, safely and cost-effectively.
• Give regular feedback to the production line and work closely with its team.
• Supervise your team, keep discipline and coach people on the job, following the POLC approach.

What you need

• Grade 12 (Standard 10) or an NQF 4 equivalent.
• Serviceman Certificate from an applicable training structure.
• Three years’ experience as an Engineering Assistant, with work-related experience.
• A valid medical certificate, or being medically fit to obtain one.
• Essential: knowledge of health and safety principles.
• Essential: an engineering background, including identifying tools, inspecting for defects, and using and maintaining tools.
• Essential: basic safety skills, such as firefighting, first aid and emergency evacuation.
• Advantageous: basic business skills.
• Advantageous: engineering drawing skills at N1 level.
