Miner Production

About this role

Impala Platinum (Implats) is recruiting a Miner Production for its operations in Limpopo. You would lead a gang of miners working a section of the underground workings, following the rules set out in the Minerals Act Regulations.

What you’ll do

• Read and interpret the business plan, then share out resources to match it.
• Set production targets for your section and put measures in place to reach them.
• Take instructions from shaft management and pass work priorities on to your crew.
• Supervise the crew that installs and maintains equipment in your underground area.
• Plan, organise, lead and control the mining operations in your section.
• Coordinate drilling and blasting, including marking shot and pilot holes and dealing with misfires.
• Support the working area with roof anchors, hydraulic props and packs, and move material and equipment by mono rope system.

What you need

• Essential: Grade 12 or an NQF Level 4 certificate.
• Essential: A valid permanent blasting certificate.
• Essential: At least 3 years of underground development experience, or a National Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering.
• Essential: Competent A and B certificates.
• Essential: Knowledge of mine standards, best practice, risk management and operational business objectives.
• Essential: Technical knowledge of stoping, development, surveying and equipping, explosives, and safety policies, procedures and regulations.
