Merchandiser

About this role

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Merchandiser for its store in Claremont, Cape Town. The job keeps the store stocked, tidy and well laid out, so shoppers find what they need on the shelf.

What you’ll do

• Restock shelves and displays so products sell well, and move stock from the storeroom to the shop floor on time.
• Check shelf stock for sell-by dates, rotate stock regularly (first in, first out), and report low stock, empty shelves, damaged stock and expired items to management.
• Keep shelves, labels and prices neat and correct, and report any price differences you find.
• Follow Dis-Chem’s store layout, planograms and operating standards when you set up and maintain displays.
• Help with unloading and loading stock, flattening boxes, stocktaking and stock counts.
• Help customers with questions and stock queries, and follow up on out-of-stock requests. You may also help train new staff.

What you need

• Grade 12 / matric.
• Up to 6 months of retail experience is acceptable.
• Basic computer skills, including MS Office.
• Willingness and ability to work retail hours.
• Ability to lift and move heavy boxes safely.
• Reliable transport, or you live close to the store.
• South African citizen with a clear credit and criminal record.
• Advantageous: at least 1 year of retail experience.
• Advantageous: bilingual, knowledge of merchandising standards or the FMCG industry, product knowledge, and the ability to read ZMORE reports for ordering and stocktaking.
