REQUIREMENTS : Basic R425 qualification (i.e. Diploma/ Degree in General Nursing and
Midwifery) that allows registration with the ‘South African Nursing Council’
(SANC) as a Professional Nurse. Current registration with the SANC (2026)
Experience Grade 1: None Experience Grade 2: a minimum of 10 years

appropriate/ recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Experience Grade 3: a minimum of 20 years appropriate/ recognizable experience in nursing after
registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing
Knowledge, Skills Training and Competencies Required:
Knowledge of nursing care processes and procedures, nursing statutes, and other relevant legal
frameworks. Nursing Act, Health Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act. Patient
Rights Charter, Batho-Pele principles, Public Service Regulations, Labour Act,
Disciplinary Code and Procedure, Grievance Procedure, etc. Good
communication skills; Report writing skills Knowledge Management; Planning
& Organizing; Computer Literacy.
DUTIES :
Provide directions and supervision for the implementation of the nursing plan
(clinical practice/quality patient care. Implement standards, practices, criteria
and indicators for quality nursing (quality of practice). Practice nursing and
health care in accordance with the laws and regulations relevant to nursing and
health care. Maintain a constructive working relationship with nursing and other
stakeholders. Utilise human, material and physical resources efficiently and
effectively. Assist with relief duties of the supervisor and act as a shift leader
on both day and night when necessary. Display a concern for patients,
promoting and advocating proper treatment and care including awareness and
willingness to respond to patient needs, requirements and Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure good nursing care that is cost Effective, equitable and efficient.
NB: Must be prepared to work shift as per allocation;
includes night shift, weekends and Public Holidays.
