About this role
GrowthArch is looking for a Provincial Project Coordinator to support the Project Manager with its internship placement programme in the Western Cape. The job is based in Cape Town. You will take candidates from TVET colleges all the way through to the end of their internships at host employers.
What you’ll do
- Work with TVET colleges to collect intern lists and supporting documents, then screen qualifications against programme and host employer requirements.
- Verify IDs, qualifications and academic records before placements go ahead.
- Match interns with host employers close to where they live, and help get agreements signed before placements start.
- Visit host employers on a schedule to check attendance, conduct, progress and wellbeing of interns.
- Review logbooks on site, sign them off, and follow up where entries or mentor sign-offs are missing.
- Meet workplace mentors to get feedback, and handle problems such as absenteeism or early exits. Escalate to the Project Manager when needed.
- Keep a provincial tracker and submit weekly progress reports. Keep POPIA-compliant records for funder reporting and audits.
What you need
- National Diploma or degree in Human Resource Management, Education and Training, Project Management, Business Administration or a related field.
- Valid South African driver’s licence, Code B or higher.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the Western Cape.
- At least 2 to 3 years of experience coordinating internships, learnerships, work-integrated learning or other skills development programmes.
- Experience monitoring participants at workplaces and reviewing logbooks or portfolios of evidence.
- Experience preparing reports and keeping records for funders or audits.
- Advantageous: experience working with TVET colleges, SETAs or host employers.
- Advantageous: good knowledge of the province’s towns, industries and employers.
- Advantageous: access to a reliable vehicle for site visits.
- Advantageous: proficiency in a language widely spoken in the province, besides English.
- Strong organisation skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
- Clear communication with interns, mentors, employers and college staff.
- Ability to work on your own in the field with little supervision, and to handle personal information with discretion.
Is this job for you?
This role suits someone who enjoys field work and building relationships with colleges, employers and young people. You should be comfortable with reports and records, and you should be able to spot problems early and act on them. A genuine interest in youth development and job creation will help.
Tips before you apply
- Have your driver’s licence, qualification certificates and proof of experience ready to upload or show.
- In your CV, give examples of internships or learnerships you have coordinated, with numbers such as how many participants you managed.
- Describe any logbook review, site visit or funder reporting work in detail, including the tools you used, such as Excel trackers.
